Description

Methenolone Acetate (Primobolan Oral, Primo Tabs) is the oral acetate ester variant of Methenolone, a 5α-reduced DHT derivative. The oral form differs from the injectable variant (Methenolone Enanthate) primarily in bioavailability - the acetate ester survives first-pass hepatic metabolism substantially better than the unesterified form.

Per study reports Methenolone binds weakly to moderately to the androgen receptor and doesn’t aromatize. Anabolic action is mild - comparable to Anavar in strength. The missing aromatization and low androgenic profile make Primo Oral the preferred compound in women’s research setups and in cutting phases where water retention should be avoided.

The central limitation is bioavailability: despite acetate ester modification oral availability is only about 22%. This requires high daily doses (50-100mg+) to achieve effective plasma levels. Compared to the injectable form Primo Oral is often economically unfavorable.

Pharmacokinetically orally bioavailable with about 4-6 hour half-life. Research protocols therefore require 2-3 daily doses.

Known effects in studies: very mild side effect profile compared to classical 17α-methyl steroids. Low hepatotoxicity, low HPG suppression, no estrogen effect. The main disadvantage remains bioavailability and thus cost.

Methenolone is on the WADA banned list.

You can order Primobolan Oral as tablets in one bottle with 25mg per tablet.

Risks & Safety

Methenolone Acetate is considered a very mild oral anabolic per study reports, yet still sits in the upper range of the risk scale. The effects documented in the literature are milder than under classical 17α-methyl steroids.

Documented in studies and the user literature:

  • Low liver strain: in the literature, Methenolone is described as low in hepatotoxicity, substantially milder than classical alkylated orals.
  • Lipid profile: an unfavorable shift of the lipid profile is documented in studies, as is typical for oral anabolics.
  • Suppression of natural production: a low but present HPG suppression is described in the literature.
  • Low bioavailability: an oral availability of only about 22 percent is documented, requiring high daily doses.

This classification does not replace medical advice. Risk and responsibility for any actual use lie entirely with the buyer.

Write to us, our team will help you.

What is methenolone acetate?

Methenolone is a steroid derived from DHT with a methyl group on the first carbon. As the acetate it is taken as a tablet, unlike the injection with the long enanthate ester. In a comparison study methenolone bound to the androgen receptor in muscle and prostate more strongly than testosterone but less strongly than nandrolone.

Is methenolone acetate approved?

Yes, in Japan as a prescription tablet. The Japanese prescribing information names osteoporosis, severe wasting in chronic kidney disease, cancer, injuries and burns as well as anaemia from bone marrow failure. ChEMBL lists the compound with phase 2 and ClinicalTrials.gov lists no trial of its own (as of 26 October 2026). Everything here is the state of research, not a recommendation.

What do human studies show?

In a 1988 study 30 people with anaemia from bone marrow failure received the immune therapy ATG, half of them randomly also oral methenolone. With methenolone 11 of 15 responded, without it 4 of 15. A 2024 case report describes an older man whose haemoglobin rose and whose bone density declined more slowly on methenolone acetate and darbepoetin.

Does the tablet strain the liver?

Methenolone does not carry a 17α methyl group like many other oral steroids. Even so, the Japanese prescribing information lists liver damage and jaundice as serious side effects and advises regular liver tests with longer use. A 1993 case report describes fatal liver failure in a frail 75-year-old. In studies of athletes a review found no liver damage from anabolic steroids.

Which side effects have been described?

The prescribing information lists hoarseness that may persist, more body hair, acne and menstrual changes in women. In men it lists acne and suppressed testicular function with large amounts over a long time. Reviews of anabolic steroids also describe suppressed own hormone production, falling HDL cholesterol and rising blood pressure.

What does GPR133 have to do with methenolone?

GPR133 is a receptor in the cell membrane. A 2025 paper found that DHT activates it in muscle cells, the messenger cAMP rises and muscle strength increases. Using cryo-electron microscopy the authors also showed methenolone bound to this receptor. This is basic research, consequences for use have not been studied.

How long is methenolone detectable?

After one oral dose of methenolone acetate researchers found 12 metabolites in two volunteers, methenolone itself was detectable in urine for up to 90 hours. A study from a doping laboratory later found a metabolite that was detectable for up to 40 days.
