Everything about Fenbendazol

Description

Fenbendazole is a compound from the benzimidazole group. It has been used in veterinary medicine against worm infections for decades, for example in horses, cattle and dogs. Fenbendazole is not approved as a medicine for humans.

Benzimidazoles bind to tubulin, the building block of microtubules. In worms this disrupts cell structure and nutrient uptake. In cell experiments fenbendazole additionally acted as a moderate microtubule destabilizer in human cancer cell lines. This led to research interest, but there is no solid clinical data.

After oral intake fenbendazole is only poorly absorbed and is metabolized in the liver to oxfendazole.

You get fenbendazole as tablets with 100 mg per tablet, 100 tablets per bottle.

Risks & Safety

Fenbendazole is well studied in veterinary medicine, for humans there is no approval and hardly any data.

Documented in the literature:

  • No human approval: dosing, tolerability and interactions in humans have not been studied systematically.
  • Liver values: case reports describe rising liver values in humans after longer intake.
  • Interactions: breakdown via liver enzymes can interact with other compounds.
  • No evidence for cancer treatment: the data on cancer cells comes from cell and animal experiments and cannot be transferred to humans.

This classification does not replace medical advice. Risk and responsibility for any actual use lie entirely with the buyer.
