Description

Test Base is unesterified testosterone, the pharmacological raw format of the androgen without ester attachment at the 17β-hydroxyl. Without the lipophilic ester, the substance acts immediately after injection with a biological half-life of only about 10 minutes.

Per study reports this means rapid high peak values and equally fast clearance. Test Base is used in acute pharmacology studies investigating direct cellular testosterone effects without the interference of slow ester release.

The substance is only soluble in oily vehicle since the unesterified molecule has practically no water solubility (water form: see Test Suspension - delivered as microcrystal suspension). In oily vehicle the profile is slightly delayed compared to suspension but remains substantially shorter than the fastest classical ester (Propionate, ~19h).

In practical anabolic research literature, Test Base is a niche compound due to the extremely short half-life - classic cycle research uses esters. The main use case is pre-workout pharmacology studies investigating acute androgen effects on performance.

You can order Test Base as an oily injection solution in 10-vial packs at 100mg/ml.

Risks & Safety

Test Base shares the risk profile of all testosterone forms - the extremely short half-life does not change the active substance profile, it only produces sharp peak values and fast clearance.

Documented in studies and the application literature:

  • Estrogen conversion: unesterified testosterone aromatizes to estradiol. Water retention, blood pressure rise and at higher doses gynecomastia risk are documented.
  • Suppression of endogenous production: exogenous testosterone throttles the body’s own production via the HPTA axis. Testicular atrophy and reduced fertility are documented.
  • Cardiovascular: studies describe unfavorable shifts in the lipid profile (HDL falls), elevated hematocrit and an associated thrombosis risk.
  • Sharp peak values: the immediate release produces high plasma peaks, multiple daily injections are needed for stable levels and increase strain on the injection sites.

Baseline bloodwork before, during and after a research protocol is strongly advised. This classification does not replace medical advice. Risk and responsibility for any actual use lie entirely with the buyer.

What does without an ester mean?

Usual testosterone products carry a fatty acid chain that slows the release. Test Base has none. Given straight into a vein testosterone had a half-life of about 56 minutes. With a short ester (propionate) levels stayed raised for about 48 hours after one injection, with a long ester (enanthate) it took 9 days to return to baseline.

Why does an injection last longer than an hour?

Because the testosterone first has to dissolve out of the depot. How fast depends on its form: pellets of pressed, pure testosterone under the skin released it evenly, half was released after about 2.5 months and men came back for a new implant after 5.8 months on average. There is no such measurement for the suspension in water.

Is Test Base approved?

The compound is: the ChEMBL database lists testosterone as an approved drug with phase 4 as the highest phase. ClinicalTrials.gov has no trial for the ester-free aqueous suspension. Testosterone is banned in sport. Everything here is the state of research, not a recommendation.

Does the effect depend on the amount?

Yes. In a trial with five dose levels over 20 weeks (testosterone as enanthate, highest level 600 mg per week) fat-free mass rose by 3.4, 5.2 and 7.9 kg in the three higher levels. Leg strength, muscle volume and haemoglobin rose with the level while fat mass and HDL cholesterol fell.

What happens to the body's own hormone production?

Testosterone from outside suppresses the hormone axis. On testosterone pellets LH and FSH fell clearly, the higher the testosterone level the lower. After an enanthate injection LH and FSH stayed suppressed for as long as testosterone was raised.

Is it converted to oestrogen?

Yes, part of it. After testosterone into a vein estradiol was raised just 5 minutes later and stayed raised until the end of measurement after 3 hours. Circulation and blood pressure did not change.
