What is the IllumiNeuro Blend?
The IllumiNeuro Blend puts four peptides around brain, mood and the sleep-wake rhythm into one vial with 49mg of total active compound. How the 49mg are split between the four peptides is not stated individually in the product data. Epitalon and Pinealon are short bioregulator peptides from the Russian Khavinson program, linked to the pineal gland, the melatonin rhythm and the protection of nerve cells. Semax and Selank are the two best-known Russian nootropics, here in their N-acetyl amidate form, which is considered more resistant to breakdown than the parent molecules.
The idea behind the combination: two building blocks that work on cell protection and rhythm over the longer term, plus two that are meant to support focus and calm acutely. The proportions are fixed in the vial and cannot be steered individually. All four components have their own lexicon entries with the details of each mechanism. The vial ships as lyophilised powder that you reconstitute with bacteriostatic water.
To be upfront: there is no study on this four-way combination, neither preclinical nor in humans. The evidence comes from research on the individual peptides. Most of that research comes from Russia and to a large extent from a single research group.

How it works
Epitalon is a tetrapeptide (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) synthesised to match the amino acid composition of a pineal gland extract. In human fibroblasts it switched telomerase, the enzyme that maintains the protective caps of the chromosomes, back on and lengthened the telomeres (Khavinson 2003). In old monkeys and elderly people with declining pineal function, Epithalamin and Epitalon restored night-time melatonin release and the daily rhythm of the hormone (Korkushko 2007). That is where the link to sleep and ageing comes from.
Pinealon is the tripeptide Glu-Asp-Arg from the same peptide family, directed at nervous tissue. In cell experiments it dose-dependently limited the build-up of reactive oxygen species in cerebellar granule cells, neutrophils and PC12 cells and reduced necrotic cell death under oxidative stress (Khavinson 2011). Beyond the antioxidant effect, the Khavinson group proposes a direct action on gene regulation; internationally that hypothesis is contested.
Semax is an analogue of the ACTH fragment 4-10. Its best-documented effect is that it raises the production of the nerve growth factor BDNF and its receptor TrkB in the hippocampus (Dolotov 2006); it also influences the dopaminergic and serotonergic systems. It is activating and is associated with focus and resilience under stress. Selank is derived from the endogenous immune peptide tuftsin, modulates the GABA system, stabilises enkephalins and, in a clinical study in generalized anxiety disorder, was as anxiolytic as the benzodiazepine medazepam while adding an anti-asthenic effect against the exhaustion component (Zozulya 2008). The N-acetyl amidate forms of both peptides are considered more resistant to breakdown by peptidases than the parent molecules.
In the blend these run side by side: rhythm and cell protection through Epitalon and Pinealon, focus through Semax, calm through Selank. Whether the effects complement each other or merely coexist has not been studied. All four peptides are measurable in blood only briefly; the effects they trigger last well beyond the molecule itself.
What you need
The kit is the same as for the individual peptides:
- The IllumiNeuro vial with the lyophilised powder (four compounds, 49mg)
- Bacteriostatic water for reconstitution, a small vial covers 2ml
- U-100 insulin syringes
- Alcohol swabs for the vial cap and the skin
- A sealable container for used needles
The blend is meant as a powder vial for injection. Nasal data exist only for some of the individual building blocks, not for this mix, so it is injected subcutaneously. If you prefer the nasal route, Epitalon, Semax and Selank have their own spray entries in the lexicon.
Reconstitution
All figures refer to the total amount of the four peptides; the mixing ratio is the same in every drop. With 2ml of bacteriostatic water on 49mg you get 24.5mg per ml, so one unit on the U-100 syringe (0.01ml) holds 0.245mg of total peptide. With 3ml it is around 16.3mg per ml, roughly 0.16mg per unit. With 1ml the solution becomes very concentrated (49mg per ml, 0.49mg per unit). Small amounts are hard to draw up accurately.
The calculator above shows the concentration for any water volume. It deliberately shows no dose steps for this blend; the reason is in the dosing section. 2ml is a good standard because the units are easy to read.
Just add the water to the vial; it does not matter whether it hits the powder directly. Then swirl or shake until everything is clearly dissolved, both are fine. The solution is colourless. If it turns gel-like or lumpy, do not use the vial. Slight cloudiness on its own is not a reason.
Injection
Inject subcutaneously into the fat layer under the skin, classically the abdomen (keep two finger widths clear around the navel), the front of the thigh or the back of the upper arm. All four components act systemically, so the site makes no difference to the effect.
- Clean the skin with an alcohol swab and let it dry briefly
- Lift a small fold of skin
- Insert the needle at 45 to 90 degrees
- Inject, slowly or briskly both work, wait a moment, then withdraw the needle
- Put the needle straight into the sharps container
Rotate the injection site from day to day. Because of the activating Semax share, the shot belongs in the morning or early afternoon, not in the evening.
Use and dosing
What the research shows
There is no study on the combination. What exists is work on the four building blocks. Almost all of it comes from Russia, for Epitalon and Pinealon largely from the group around Khavinson. For Epitalon, a cell study showed activation of telomerase and lengthening of telomeres in human fibroblasts (Khavinson 2003); in old monkeys and elderly people, pineal peptides normalised night-time melatonin release and its daily rhythm (Korkushko 2007). That does not prove life extension in healthy humans. Independent replication is largely missing.
Pinealon has its cleanest basis in cell models: fewer reactive oxygen species and less cell death under oxidative stress, plus hints of an effect on the cell cycle (Khavinson 2011). Human data are thin. For Semax the mechanism via BDNF and TrkB in the hippocampus is well described (Dolotov 2006); the clinical data come mainly from Russian stroke medicine. Large Western double-blind trials on nootropic use in healthy people do not exist. Selank is comparatively well documented clinically for a neuropeptide: in a study of 62 patients with generalized anxiety disorder and neurasthenia it was as anxiolytic as medazepam, with an additional anti-asthenic effect (Zozulya 2008).
For the blend this means: every building block has a described mechanism, but the everyday effects rest on mechanism plus user experience, not on controlled studies of the combination. The studies with links are in the source block below.
Side effects
All four components are considered well tolerated in the available literature, but there are no dedicated safety data for the combination. Most common are reactions at the injection site: mild redness, a feeling of pressure or a passing irritation.
- Restlessness and sleep: Semax is activating. A shot taken too late can disturb sleep. Head pressure or inner restlessness are occasionally reported. That is the main reason for the morning shot.
- Opposing profiles: Selank calms, Semax activates. Depending on the day, one or the other may dominate; some report mild tiredness, others restlessness.
- Epitalon and Pinealon: no notable toxicity in animal and cell models even at high doses, in humans mainly local reactions are described. Solid independent long-term data are missing.
- Unclear proportions: as long as the split is not stated, nobody can say how much Semax and Selank a shot contains. The activating profile may therefore turn out stronger or weaker than with the individual peptides.
- Evidence: systematic human safety data are entirely missing for the combination. Hence short cycles with long breaks instead of continuous use.
If the solution turns gel-like or lumpy, do not use the vial. Slight cloudiness on its own is not a reason.
Storage
The undissolved powder is robust: normal room temperature (around 20 to 25 degrees) is fine, ideally kept dark and dry. For longer periods it can go in the fridge, but that is not necessary.
After reconstitution the solution goes in the fridge (2 to 8 degrees) and keeps there for several months; the bacteriostatic water brings a preservative for that. Do not freeze, do not leave in the sun.
Swirling or shaking are both fine. Piercing the same stopper several times is normal, just wipe the cap each time beforehand.
