What is Tri-Test?
Tri-Test is an oil solution with three testosterone esters in one vial (10 ml). It comes in two versions with a different composition per ml:
- 350 mg/ml: 200mg testosterone enanthate, 100mg testosterone cypionate, 50mg testosterone propionate.
- 400 mg/ml: 100mg testosterone cypionate, 200mg testosterone decanoate, 100mg testosterone enanthate.
The 350 version brings a fast component with propionate, while the 400 version adds a particularly long one with decanoate.

Comparison
The esters in Tri-Test
The same compound at the same receptor with esters of different length, as stated in the TPD lexicon. Tap a card to open its entry.
The ester only changes how fast testosterone leaves the depot. There is no study on the blend of esters. 12
How it works
All three esters are cleaved in the body and testosterone remains. It binds the androgen receptor and raises protein synthesis, nitrogen retention and red blood cell production. Part of it is converted to estradiol and to DHT.
The only difference is pace: propionate kicks in fast, enanthate and cypionate sit in the middle and decanoate releases the compound most slowly. That is why the 350 version rises faster after a dose while the 400 version lasts longer.

- Hypothalamus and pituitary
LH and FSH suppressed as long as testosterone levels were raised2
Observed in trials - Blood
Haemoglobin and haematocrit rose with the dose, more in older men5
Observed in trials - Liver and blood lipids
HDL cholesterol fell as testosterone levels rose4
Observed in trials - Skeletal muscle
Muscle size in arms and legs and strength increased, most with training3
Observed in trials - Fat tissue
Fat mass fell as testosterone levels rose4

Injection
The oil is ready to use. Intramuscular injection into the glute, thigh or shoulder is recommended; rotate sites and disinfect first.
- Thicker needle to draw, thinner needle to inject.
- Highly concentrated oils contain more solubilizers, which can cause more soreness at the site.
- Subcutaneous only in small amounts and if well tolerated; for the 350 version with propionate, intramuscular is the better choice.
What the research shows
There are no studies on Tri-Test as a blend, but there are on its components. Fujioka and colleagues (1986) showed for propionate that testosterone levels stay above the physiological range for about 48 hours after a dose. The Bhasin study (NEJM, 1996) with 600mg enanthate per week over 10 weeks showed marked gains in muscle mass and strength.
Weinbauer and colleagues (2003) found in primates that at the same amount of testosterone, the release profile and aromatization shape the effects more than the total dose. Coviello and colleagues (2008) showed that hemoglobin and hematocrit rise with the dose, more so in older men.

Strength after 10 weeks3
Gain in kg, 43 healthy men, testosterone enanthate or placebo once a week
Trial with testosterone enanthate, the component of both versions. There is no study on the blend itself. Mood and behaviour did not change in any group.
Research status
Where the research stands
There is no study on the blend itself. Shown are registered trials on components: the phase 3 trials of testosterone enanthate (contained in both versions) and one study with enanthate, cypionate and propionate. As of 26 Oct 2026. 8
- Preclinical Primates: release profile and aromatization
- Phase 1 no registered trial
- Phase 2 no registered trial
- Phase 3 5 trials on components, 4 completed
- Approval blend itself not approved

Side effects
Tri-Test carries the risk profile of every testosterone product. At the same weekly dose the effects match a single ester; only the course of blood levels differs.
- Estrogen: water retention, rising blood pressure, gyno risk.
- Hematocrit: rises with the dose, keep an eye on the blood count.
- HPTA suppression: your own testosterone production is suppressed.
- Lipids: HDL falls.
- Androgenic: acne, hair loss if predisposed.
Tolerability
Frequency in the 26-week trial (enanthate subcutaneous)
Out of 100 participants, how many had the event over 26 weeks. Testosterone enanthate in a replacement amount, one group, no placebo.
| Event | Enanthate subcutaneous, replacement amount |
|---|---|
| Any adverse drug reaction7 | 26% |
| Raised haematocrit (52% or more)7 | 8% |
| Bleeding at the injection site7 | 5% |
| Bruising at the injection site7 | 3% |
| Raised PSA7 | 3% |
Abstract values 25.6, 7.5, 4.5, 3.0 and 3.0 percent. Trial with one component in a replacement amount, not with Tri-Test. Haemoglobin and haematocrit rise with the dose, more so in older men.75
Storage
Keep the oil at room temperature, in the dark and closed. Do not put it in the fridge, highly concentrated oils in particular crystallize easily in the cold. Visible crystals dissolve when the vial is warmed and swirled until the solution is clear again.
