Description

PTD-DBM is a synthetic peptide that blocks the CXXC5-Dishevelled interaction and thereby activates the Wnt/beta-catenin signaling pathway. The substance was developed by Korean research teams with primary research focus on hair follicle regeneration in alopecia models.

Per study reports PTD-DBM blocks negative Wnt regulation by CXXC5. Wnt activation in the hair follicle bulge is one of the central pathways for the anagen phase of the hair cycle - activation in research models shows stimulation of follicle neogenesis and accelerated wound healing in skin models.

A landmark publication in Journal of Investigative Dermatology 2017 documented topical PTD-DBM application in mice with dramatic hair regeneration in alopecic areas. The substance is now a young but exciting compound in the recreational community for hair restoration.

Typical application is topical (microneedling setup) - injection or systemic application isn’t established in research literature.

You can order PTD-DBM as lyophilized peptide in 10-pack at 5mg per vial.

Risks & Safety

PTD-DBM is a young compound applied primarily topically. Systemic exposure is low with topical application, but the overall data is thin.

Observed in the literature and user reports:

  • Local skin reactions: with topical application, particularly in combination with microneedling, redness, irritation or transient sensitivity of the treated skin areas is the most common observation.
  • Wnt pathway activation: the compound activates the Wnt/beta-catenin signaling pathway. This pathway is broadly involved in cell proliferation. The longer-term effects of repeated local activation are not conclusively characterized in the literature.
  • Application route: injection or systemic application is not established in the research literature, so there is no data basis for non-topical routes.
  • No long-term data: robust human studies exist only to a limited extent. The profile rests on a small number of dermatological studies and anecdotal experience.

This classification does not replace medical advice. Risk and responsibility for any actual use lie entirely with the buyer.

Still have a question?

Write to us, our team will help you.

Is PTD-DBM approved or studied in humans?

No. There is no approval and as of 26 October 2026 no trial with PTD-DBM in the registry ClinicalTrials.gov. The published papers are cell cultures, scalp samples and mouse models.

How is PTD-DBM supposed to work?

CXXC5 is a natural brake of the Wnt signalling pathway: it binds Dishevelled and so dampens the signal. PTD-DBM carries exactly the binding piece of CXXC5 and occupies the spot. CXXC5 can no longer brake and beta-catenin rises.

What do the hair studies show?

Bald areas of human scalp contained more CXXC5. In mice PTD-DBM made hair grow back faster and new hair follicles form in wounds. Hair loss caused by the hormone PGD2 could also be reversed with it in mice.

What do the wound studies show?

On skin wounds in mice PTD-DBM sped up healing about as much as the growth factor EGF. Together with valproic acid the wounds were 42.8 percent newly covered with skin after 3 days, untreated 4.9 percent.

Why is it applied to the skin?

In the mouse studies PTD-DBM was applied to the depilated skin or directly onto the wound. The transport sequence is meant to help it get into cells. How much reaches the scalp in humans has not been studied.

Which side effects are known?

There are no solid human data. The entry mentions occasional mild scalp irritation, there is no study on it.
