Everything about Thymalin

Description

Thymalin is a complex of polypeptides extracted from calf thymus and established in the Khavinson bioregulator school as a central compound for immune research. In contrast to synthetic mono-peptides like thymosin alpha-1 or KPV, thymalin is a defined multi-peptide mixture used in Russian research tradition since the 1970s as an immune modulator.

The research mechanism is multimodal. Thymalin contains multiple low-molecular peptides associated in preclinical studies with effects on T-cell differentiation, immune cell activation and thymic function. In animal models, thymalin has been described with restoration of age-related reduced thymus function, also making the compound interesting in anti-aging research contexts.

A particularity of thymalin: the compound data largely originates from Russian-language research literature, which has reduced international visibility. The Khavinson school at the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology has produced substantial research on bioregulator peptides, placing thymalin in a broader research context with other Khavinson peptides (epitalon, pinealon, cerebrolysin, etc.).

In research setups, thymalin is complementary to synthetic immune compounds. The multi-component nature allows broader mechanism coverage but reduces mechanistic clarity compared to mono-peptide research.

Thymalin is available in 10mg vials as 10-vial packs.

Risks & Safety

Thymalin is considered well tolerated per study reports and has been used in the Russian bioregulator tradition since the 1970s as an immune modulator.

Observed in research and user reports:

  • Injection site: mild redness or pressure at the injection site is the most common local observation, typical for subcutaneously applied peptides.
  • Immune modulation: thymalin modulates T-cell differentiation and thymic function in preclinical studies, an active intervention in adaptive immunity.
  • Calf origin and variable composition: thymalin is a multi-peptide mixture extracted from calf thymus rather than a defined mono-peptide, which limits batch-to-batch consistency and mechanistic clarity.
  • Data base: the evidence comes predominantly from Russian-language research literature. Robust international long-term human data are largely lacking.

This classification does not replace medical advice. Risk and responsibility for any actual use lie entirely with the buyer.

Still have a question?

Write to us, our team will help you.

What is Thymalin?

A mixture of peptides obtained from the thymus of calves using mild acid. It comes from the Khavinson programme in St. Petersburg and is regarded there as an immune corrector.

Is Thymalin approved?

In Russia yes: according to the developer group approved by the Ministry of Health as an immunomodulator since 1982. Not in the EU or the US. The ClinicalTrials.gov registry lists no trial on Thymalin.

What is the active substance?

The developer group names the dipeptides KE and EW. The dipeptide EW was isolated from Thymalin and rebuilt as Thymogen. In blood cells from four donors Thymalin, KE and EW lowered the messengers IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α 1.4 to 6-fold after an inflammatory stimulus.

What does the long-term study in older adults show?

266 older people were observed for 6 to 8 years, the peptides were given in the first 2 to 3 years. In the Thymalin group mortality was 2.0 to 2.1-fold lower according to the authors and respiratory infections were less common. Placebo and independent replication are missing.

What about COVID-19?

A Russian study gave 42 patients with COVID pneumonia Thymalin in addition, 50 received standard care only. IL-6, CRP and D-dimer fell much more with Thymalin and the lymphocyte count normalised. The study was small and without placebo.

Which side effects are known?

There are no solid figures. The published papers give no frequencies in their abstracts. As an immunomodulator caution in autoimmune disease is plausible, but there are no data.
