Everything about Epitalon Nasal

Description

Epitalon is a synthetic tetrapeptide with the sequence Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly (AEDG), developed by Professor Vladimir Khavinson at the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology. Structurally, it is based on the amino acid composition of Epithalamin, an extract from the pineal gland. Since its first synthesis in 2000, Epitalon has established itself as one of the most intensively investigated peptides in longevity research.

The central research mechanism lies in telomerase activation. In studies on human fibroblasts, Epitalon-treated cells were shown to surpass the Hayflick limit: while control cells lost mitosis capability after passage 34, Epitalon-treated cells continued dividing even after passage 44 while maintaining telomere length. This makes Epitalon one of the few compounds for which telomerase activation in human somatic cells has been documented in research.

Secondarily, Epitalon acts on pineal gland function. In animal models, restoration of physiological melatonin profiles, normalization of circadian rhythm and neuroprotective effects are observed. Other documented effects include modulation of interleukin-2 mRNA, influence on AChE and BuChE as well as geroprotective properties across multiple animal model systems.

In research setups, Epitalon is typically used in cycles (e.g. 10 days), not continuously. As a powder, Epitalon is injected subcutaneously or intramuscularly. For nasal dosing there are only animal data in rats; how much of one spray reaches the body in humans has not been measured.

This variant is a ready-to-use nasal spray: 10mg of Epitalon dissolved in 5 ml saline and 0.4 ml bacteriostatic water (5.4 ml in total), nothing to mix yourself. One spray (0.1 ml) delivers about 185 mcg. A bottle lasts for about 50 sprays. It is made fresh once you place your order and ships as an express item. As a powder for reconstitution, Epitalon remains available in vials.

Risks & Safety

Epitalon is considered well tolerated per study reports. Across the available studies from the Khavinson program, no significant toxic effects have been documented over several decades.

Observed in research and user reports:

  • Nasal lining: the spray adds local effects: brief burning or tingling, an urge to sneeze, a runny nose and a bitter taste in the throat when solution runs down the back. With frequent use a dry lining or slight nosebleeds are possible.
  • Circulation: isolated reports of brief fatigue or mild warmth shortly after application.
  • Concentrated data: a large part of the research originates from the Khavinson institute and is little independently replicated internationally. The telomerase-activating effect also raises mechanistic questions that are not yet conclusively resolved in the literature.
  • No long-term data: robust long-term human studies do not exist. The favorable profile rests primarily on animal models and short-term anecdotal experience.

This classification does not replace medical advice. Risk and responsibility for any actual use lie entirely with the buyer.

Write to us, our team will help you.

Is epitalon approved or studied in humans?

It is not approved. As of 26 October 2026 ClinicalTrials.gov lists only one early trial in which epitalon is one of several peptides in a skin serum. A 2026 review sums up: in humans there are only small studies on measured values and an older study on a retinal disease, no adequately powered randomised trial.

How does it differ from epithalamin?

Epithalamin is an extract from bovine pineal glands with many peptides. Epitalon was built as a single, chemically made tetrapeptide from its amino acid composition. Later the same sequence was also found in the pineal peptide mixture. Studies with epithalamin therefore cannot simply be transferred to epitalon.

Does epitalon lengthen telomeres?

In cell cultures, yes. In 2003 epitalon activated telomerase in fetal human fibroblasts and lengthened the telomeres. In 2025 an independent group in London confirmed this in normal human cells: telomerase was 4-fold more active in fibroblasts and 26-fold in epithelial cells. Whether that happens in the body has not been studied.

What do the animal studies show on life span?

In 54 mice dosed for life, mean life span stayed the same. The last 10 percent of the animals lived 13.3 percent longer and maximum life span rose by 12.3 percent. Chromosome damage in the bone marrow fell by 17.1 percent, leukaemia was less common. The study comes from the group that developed epitalon.

What does epitalon have to do with melatonin?

In cell cultures from rat pineal glands the cells formed more of the enzyme AANAT and of the signalling protein pCREB with epitalon. More melatonin was found in the culture medium. This has not been shown in humans.

How safe is epitalon?

Solid long-term human data are missing. A 2026 review names open questions on pharmacokinetics, dose, cancer risk and product quality. In the 2025 cell study cancer cells also lengthened their telomeres, though via a different route. A Belgian testing institute also found epitalon in two illegally sold preparations.
