  • Stanozolol Water is stanozolol as a suspension in water for injection into the muscle. The compound is a 17-alpha-alkylated steroid from the DHT family that targets the androgen receptor.81
  • In binding assays stanozolol held only weakly to the androgen receptor, clearly weaker than testosterone or nandrolone.4
  • The clearest human finding concerns blood lipids: as a tablet stanozolol lowered HDL by 33 percent in 6 weeks and raised LDL by 29 percent. HDL also fell after a single injection.31
  • In long-term treatment with tablets raised liver values were the most common side effect. A case report describes severe cholestasis after two months of injections.52
  • According to ChEMBL stanozolol has been an approved drug since 1962, clinically as a tablet. Everything here is the state of research, not a recommendation.8

What is Stanozolol Water?

Stanozolol Water is a sterile aqueous suspension solution of stanozolol for intramuscular injection. This form is highly concentrated (100 mg/ml) and is commonly used in research contexts. Since the drug is suspended in water (not dissolved), the solution must be shaken before each injection to ensure uniform concentration.

Stanozolol suspension shows similar effects to the oil formulation but with faster absorption. This results in greater blood level variability with peaks and troughs. Research indicates strong anabolic effects but also significant lipid dysregulation.

Where the research stands

ClinicalTrials.gov lists only one trial with stanozolol: tablets together with another agent in a blood disorder, status unknown. It is not listed here. As of 25 Oct 2026. 7

Approved: ChEMBL lists stanozolol with phase 4 as the highest phase and first approval in 1962. Clinically it was given as a tablet.8

The approval predates today's trial registries, so the register shows no current trial for this form. 7

Side effects

The aqueous suspension has similar systemic side effects as the oil formulation but may produce stronger peak effects due to higher blood level variability:

  • Hepatotoxicity (C-17 alkylated)
  • Lipid dysregulation (HDL decrease, LDL increase)
  • Local injection pain (aqueous suspension is irritating)
  • HPTA suppression
  • Androgenization effects
  • Joint pain despite muscle gain

18 of 37 treated people (mainly raised liver values plus increased hair growth and menstrual changes) as well as 10, 5 and 2 of 21 treated people. Every side effect subsided at a lower dose, the long-term group showed no persistently raised liver values.56

Storage

Stanozolol Water should be stored at room temperature in a dark container. It must not be frozen as this will damage the suspension. Always shake before use.

How does Stanozolol Water differ from the tablet?

The compound is the same. In Stanozolol Water it floats as fine particles in water and is injected into the muscle, so the vial has to be shaken before every draw. Clinically stanozolol was given as a tablet. For the injection in water there is one small trial with a single dose.81

Is stanozolol approved?

The ChEMBL database lists stanozolol as an approved drug with first approval in 1962. Long-term reports describe treating hereditary angioedema with tablets over decades. ClinicalTrials.gov lists only a single trial with stanozolol (as of 25 October 2026).867

What happens to blood lipids?

In a trial with 11 weight lifters stanozolol as a tablet lowered HDL by 33 percent in 6 weeks and the HDL2 subfraction by 71 percent. LDL rose by 29 percent. With testosterone injections HDL fell by only 9 percent. After a single injection of 50 mg stanozolol in water HDL also fell in 12 healthy men after one month while total and LDL cholesterol rose.31

How strongly does stanozolol bind to the androgen receptor?

Weakly. In a comparison of several anabolic steroids on receptors from rat and rabbit muscle and prostate stanozolol's binding was below 5 percent of the reference androgen. Nandrolone and testosterone bound much more strongly. ChEMBL still lists stanozolol as an agonist at the androgen receptor.48

How does stanozolol affect the liver?

Stanozolol is 17-alpha-alkylated. In long-term treatment with tablets raised liver values were the most common side effect and subsided at a lower dose. A case report describes a 19-year-old who injected stanozolol for two months: severe cholestasis with liver failure. His liver values only returned to normal five months after stopping.52

What did the trial with the injection in water show?

Twelve healthy men received a single dose of 50 mg stanozolol into the muscle. From 24 hours plasminogen activator rose and stayed raised for a week, plasminogen rose from day two for three weeks. This points to stronger fibrinolysis. After one month HDL had fallen while total and LDL cholesterol had risen.1

Which side effects showed up over years?

Of 21 people with hereditary angioedema who took stanozolol tablets for 20 to 40 years, 10 had complaints: increased hair growth, weight gain, menstrual changes, acne and mood swings. Five had low HDL, two had raised triglycerides. The complaints subsided at a lower dose.6

A methyl group on carbon 17 protects the steroid from breakdown in the liver. It stays active as a tablet but puts more strain on the liver.
Androgen receptor
Protein inside the cell that testosterone and related steroids bind to. It then switches on genes for muscle growth and male traits.
Fibrinolysis
Breakdown of blood clots by the body's own enzymes such as plasmin.
HDL
High-density lipoprotein, the so-called good cholesterol. It carries cholesterol from the vessels back to the liver.
Hepatotoxicity
Harmful effect on the liver, first visible as raised liver values in the blood.
Hereditary angioedema

Practice

PCT / after coming off

Anabolic substances suppress the body's own testosterone production in the research context. Anyone who comes off a cycle (rather than running it continuously) typically uses a post-cycle therapy (PCT) to restart the natural axis (HPTA).

The standard scheme in the research/literature context combines a SERM (tamoxifen and/or clomifene, alternatively enclomiphene) over roughly four weeks, optionally preceded by HCG to re-sensitise the testes before the SERM block. An aromatase inhibitor (anastrozole/exemestane) belongs more to on-cycle estrogen control than to the PCT itself.

Tip: order the PCT items together with the cycle so they are already on hand when you come off.
